Matt is a Clinical Psychologist with over 14 years of experience in a range of clinical settings. Matt received his Master of Psychology (Clinical) from the University of Adelaide whilst serving as a Psychologist in the Australian Army. Since this time he has served as contracted psychologist for the ADF, assisted in the set up of the Melbourne branch of Soldier On Psychology Services, managed a team of mental health professionals on Manus Island (PNG), worked as an Outreach Coordinator for Open Arms and worked in multiple private practices throughout Melbourne.
Whilst Matt is experienced in a range of areas, his true passion is working with clients in a therapeutic setting and helping clients achieve their goals and get the most out of their lives. Matt is also an APS Board Approved Supervisor and is available to supervise provisional psychologists and clinical registrars.
Matt specialises in the treatment of Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Burnout, Compassion Fatigue, Grief and Loss, Addiction and Life Stage Transitions. He utilises a variety of evidence based treatments including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Matt believes all individuals deserve a uniquely tailored approach to their mental health care. Whilst his practice is deeply rooted in evidence based treatments, Matt is always happy to draw on more contemporary approaches to wellbeing as well as experts from other disciplines to ensure his clients have a holistic approach to their mental health care.
Matt served in the ADF for over a decade as an Army Psychologist, contracted Psychologist to the ADF and in various Veteran's organisations including Open Arms and Soldier On. He has a wealth of experience working with ADF members, Veterans and their families and is a Veteran of the Australian Army himself. Matt is able to accept DVA Gold and White Cards and is happy to discuss other treatment options for Veterans and their families as required.
